Bansuri (Indian flute) Indian music
• talent and affinity with classical North Indian music and bansuri
• basic knowledge of raga and tala
• sufficient technical mastery of the instrument
• perform a short alap/vistar
• perform two compositions from two different ragas of choice (e.g. Yaman, Bhupali, Bhairav , Bhimpalasi, Hansadhvani, Desh, Sarang, Madhuvanti or Todi), with simple tanas
• play sapat and different paltas/alankaras

Voice Indian music
• talent and affinity with classical North Indian music and singing
• basic knowledge of raga and tala
• place the individual notes in relation to a given tonic
• sing a short alap/vistar
• sing two compositions from two different ragas of choice (e.g. Yaman, Bhupali, Kafi, Sarang, Khamaj, Bhairav, Bhimpalasi or Todi)
• sing a sapat and different paltas/alankaras

Sitar Indian music
• talent and affinity with classical North Indian music and sitar
• basic knowledge of raga and tala
• sufficient technical mastery of the instrument
• perform an alap
• perform two compositions from two different ragas of own choice (e.g. Yaman, Bhupali, Bhairav , Bhimpalasi, Hansadhvani, Desh, Sarang, Madhuvanti or Todi) in madhyalaya gat, with sthayi, antara, simple tanas, jhala in slow-medium tempo
• play sapat and different paltas/murchanas

Violin Indian music
• talent and affinity with classical North Indian music and sarangi
• basic knowledge of raga and tala
• sufficient technical mastery of the instrument
• perform a short alap/vistar
• perform two compositions from two different ragas of choice (e.g. Yaman, Bhupali, Kafi, Sarang, Khamaj, Bhairav, Bhimpalasi or Todi), with simple tanas
• play sapat and different paltas/ alankaras
• ability to tune the instrument yourself

Sarod Indian music
• talent and affinity with classical North Indian music and sarod
• basic knowledge of raga and tala
• sufficient technical mastery of the instrument

Sarangi Indian music

• basic knowledge of raga and tala

• perform two compositions from two different ragas of choice (e.g. Yaman, Bhupali, Bhairav , Bhimpalasi, Hansadhvani, Desh, Sarang, Madhuvanti or Todi), with simple tanas

Tabla Indian music
• talent and affinity with classical North Indian music and tabla
• mastery of the basic techniques
• knowledge of the thekas and the bols of the current talas
• perform a Tintal and Ektal in three different tempos (vilambit, madhya en drut)
• perform three basic kaidas with at least six paltas and a tihai
• perform some mukhras and (short) tukras

Theory and solfège
• musical ear
• feeling for rhythm
• knowledge of rudiments of Indian music theory
• knowledge of sargam
• sing, recognize and place the individual notes in relation to a given tonic*
• elementary knowledge of at least four ragas*
• knowledge of Indian sargam-notation (bol-notation for tabla)
• sing or play a given melody
• knowledge of four current talas
